Karen Anne Cooper of Prince Rupert, BC and raised in Penticton, BC, passed away peacefully at Prince Rupert Regional hospital at the young age of 56 years on June 22, 2014. Karen won the first fight with cancer 20 years ago, but it re-appeared in the last few years and despite a courageous battle, she eventually lost the war. Karen was a gentle soul who had many friends in Prince Rupert and in Penticton. She loved all animals, especially cats, and always had a cheerful disposition, no matter what the circumstances. Karen is lovingly remembered by her mother, Shirley, of Penticton, brothers Grant and Don, sister in law Wendy, niece Jessica Cooper-Dillabough, and nephew, Kurtis Cooper, as well as many cousins. The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care given to Karen by the nursing staff at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, as well as to Karen's incredibly supportive Prince Rupert friends, who were so kind to her in her times of need. Many of her friends were co-workers at the Royal Bank, and the employer and staff alike were tremendous. The family gratefully declines flowers, but donations in Karen's name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Karen's life will be scheduled at a later date.
