NICKELS, Eric Wilfred Eric was born in Reading, England November 21, 1920 and left us peacefully on June 29, 2014. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was always a respectful gentleman who enjoyed people and the sharing of a good story. He leaves his wife of 58 years Shirley, daughters Penny (Sandro) Cuturi in England, Susan Nickels, Kelowna and Helen (Jason) Madsen of Calgary. He loved and was very proud of his six grandchildren Paolo (Nicky) Cuturi in Zambia, Helen-Marie (James) Dunmore in England, Christopher and Dorian Nickels, Kelowna and Ali and Ethan Madsen of Calgary and our new great-grandchild Luca Eric Cuturi in Zambia. He also leaves extended family members in England. Eric joined the R.A.F in 1940 and was soon on his way to Africa to train as a pilot and spent the war years in Africa. That was the beginning of his lifelong interest in that beautiful country he returned to many times. After his retirement in 1979 the family moved to Kelowna, His second home soon became the Kelowna Golf & Country Club were many lasting friendships were made. Friends of the family are invited to celebrate his life at the KG & CC July 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. No flowers, but should you wish to make a donation in Eric's name please consider the Salvation Army.
