MARSON, Donald Grove Don was born October 24, 1932 in Calgary and passed away August 15, 2014 in Kelowna with his loving family by his side. Sadly, Don was predeceased recently by his son, Doug Marson. Don was an educator, a people person, and a natural leader. He obtained his Masters of Education at Washington State University. He taught in Calgary, became a Principal and then Director of Secondary Education before moving to Kelowna where he eventually became Superintendent. Don was a very devoted, caring, and encouraging man. He was loved by many for the efforts he made to help others to solve problems. He was always proud of the fine work of students, teachers, and all levels of School District Staff. He would excitedly tell about their great accomplishments over dinner. "Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative..." was his code. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Maureen, daughter Tannis (John) Battie, daughter-in-law Carol Marson, Grandchildren (his pride and joy) Jarvis, Aly, Tamara, Karen, and Shea, as well as brother Denis(Gerry) Marson, sister in law Gerry (Jack) Cooke, many nieces, nephews, and special friends. A heartfelt thank you to all the nurses, care aids, staff, and volunteers at Village at Mill Creek who have given absolutely excellent care to Don for three and a half years. To the numerous friends that have been there for both Don and Maureen, we cannot thank you enough for your incredible support. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Parkinson's Society of BC. A Celebration of Don's Life will be held Friday, August 22nd at 10:00 am at St. Michael's Cathedral on Sutherland. Reception to follow. Heaven was in need of a hero. Don, you are forever in our hearts. Arrangements have been entrusted to Everden Rust Funeral Service.
