SCHMID, Claire Claire Schmid of Penticton passed away on August 10th, 2014 at Moog and Friends Hospice from breast cancer at the age of 84. She was born on January 19th, 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Peter and Anna Ratzlaff. She is survived by brothers and sisters John Ratzlaff, Mary Warkentin, Alfred Ratzlaff, Sara Thiessen and Phil Ratzlaff, her husband Art Schmid and step-children Elizabeth Connah, Hans Schmid, Carol Duff, Julia Johnson, Val Forsyth, Art Schmid, and Greg Schmid. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers Peter, Herman and Jake, and sisters Annie Suderman, Katie Stobbe and Susie Unrau. She always had the warmest of smiles to brighten any day. Thank you to all who visited Claire especially her friend Trudy, Greg and Patricia, the staff and volunteers at Moog House and the therapy dogs. Claire longed for this day when her saviour's face she'd see. We will celebrate her life on August 29th, 2014 at 11:00am at the Grace MB Church in Penticton.
