HILL, WILLIAM G. (GORDIE) It is with sadness we announce the passing of Gordon Hill at home in Kelowna on July 31, 2013 in his 88th year. Gordie is survived by his loving wife, Betty; plus his daughter, Krista (Robert) from Cochrane, Alberta; stepsons, Rodney Crothers (Gail) of Agassiz, BC., Tom Crothers of Edmonton, Alberta; step daughter Sharon Spaeth of Langley, BC. Also surviving are sisters, Elsie and Jean (John) in Manitoba; brother Ben (Elsie) of Portage La Prairie. Born in Rosendale District in Manitoba on August 15, 1924 he soon left at age 19 to serve in World War II in the Navy (RCNVR) for over three years. He was so proud of his service on the Hespeler (HMCS) Corvette in the battle of the Atlantic. Upon returning he started his career with Canadian National Railway which brought him to the Okanagan Valley in the early 50's. He continued to play his most favourite sport "Hockey" until the age of 80 and looked forward to the next Friday night he could hang out with the boys. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 1pm at the chapel of Everden Rust Funeral Services, 1910 Windsor Rd., followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion, Kelowna, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. "You will always have a special place in our lives".
