HOLMES, James Richard It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Richard Holmes on September 4, 2014 at the age of 79. He is survived by the love of his life Margaret de Vries, son Rick, wife Kerrie and his three grandsons Blair, Carson, and Reid, and two sisters Marion and Doreen. He was so loved by Margaret's 5 children and 12 grandchildren. Jim had a real love of animals and enjoyed nature and all its beauty. He moved to Kelowna in 1976 and enjoyed the wonderful views of mountains and lakes. Jim served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1958 to 1975 in many areas of the world, and received the United Nations Emergency Forces Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration. He became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in 2000 where he spent many wonderful Friday nights of dinner and dancing. This is where he met and fell in love with Margaret. They loved dancing together cheek to cheek and visiting with their many friends. He will be greatly missed by his extended family and many friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26. We love you Jim. You will be forever in our hearts! Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 1:00 pm followed by a reception at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
