PHELPS, LLOYD, FREDERICK: of Okanagan Falls moved on to greener pastures on September 18, 2014. Lloyd was born in Penticton, BC August 19, 1930 and was raised in Fairveiw, BC on the family's cattle ranch. He attended school in Oliver, BC until graduation in 1947. After high school Lloyd moved to Edmonton and studied heavy duty mechanics. He returned to the Okanagan in the early 50's and was a Line Driver with OK Valley Freight Line while he lived in Okanagan Falls assisting his dad with the next ranching venture. Lloyd married Betty Badgley of Kaledan BC in 1960, together they created a very successful ranching operation with the family land. He was a long time member of the BC Cattleman's Association, raised some of the best beef in BC and produced prime alfalfa that people drove hundreds of miles to buy. In 1976 Lloyd returned to the transport business, he retired from ranching and jumped back into the truck for Millar & Brown, Motorways and Byers Transport, he was an awarded driver and proud member of Teamsters Local 213. Lloyd will be missed by his wife Betty of 54 years, daughter Teri, son Bill (Shelagh), six grandchildren; Andrea, Coleby, Brooklyn, Madisyn, William and Nikolas. Lloyd is survived by his brother Ralph Phelps of Grand Forks, BC and sister Audrey Ure of Oliver, BC as well as many nieces and nephews. Lloyd was predeceased by his father Fred in 1964 and his mother Marjorie in 2005. Lloyd wasn't one for any big displays so at his request there will be no service but a family gathering is planned for a future date.
