FERSTER, Hugh Everett "Ev": Born in Calgary, Alberta July 19, 1928, the youngest of four children of Ray and Annie Ferster. Died peacefully on October 3, 2014. Predeceased in 2007 by his beloved wife of 59 years, Evelyn (Ev); and daughter Joyce (Joy) Parker. Survived by daughters, Katherine Irwin (Rick) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Margaret Fehling, Penticton BC; sons Jim (Sherry) and Ray (Sherry) both of Kelowna. Brothers Jim Ferster of Calgary, Alberta, sister Jean Douthwright of Calgary Alberta and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by Raymond and Peggy Ferster. Hugh married Evelyn Edna Kelm in Calgary Alberta, July 24, 1948. They were known affectionately to their friends as "Ev & Ev". He served 9 years in the R.C.N. and 24 years in the R.C.M.P., retiring in 1989. He was a very active member of the Masonic Lodge and concordant bodies, including the Shrine; Scottish Rite; Knights Templar; Order of Eastern Star and many more. He was a Honorary Life Member of Orion Lodge No. 51, A.F. & A.M., Penticton, BC; Coroneted an Honorary Grand Inspector General 33rd Degree, Supreme Council A. & A.S.R. Freemasons of Canada. A memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday October 21, 2014 at Everden Rust Funeral Services. 1910 Windsor Road Kelowna. The Rev. Alan Akehurst, officiating. Committal of cremated remains will immediately follow in the family plot at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. Reception in the Everden Rust Tea room.
