HEGAN, Freda: With peaceful hearts we celebrate the end of this life's journey for our good friend, mom, grandma great grandma, sister and auntie; Freda Hegan - on October 7, 2014. Freda was born in Tuscola, Saskatchewan on August 24, 1920 to August and Johanna Renz, the 10th of 12 children. She moved with her family to Osoyoos in 1935, married Bill Hegan on September 20, 1941 and they lived in the Rock Creek canyon where Patric started the family that quickly grew when Bill's sons Willy and Jimmy joined them, soon after Gail arrived. In 1944 the family moved to Penticton where Lorna and Colleen were born. Then it was on to Kaleden in 1952, where she lived for 50 years as a 'damn fine' orchardist. She continued to open her heart to grandchildren & great grandchildren. SHE WAS THE BEST GRAM EVER and they all loved Kaleden. In 2002 Freda moved back to Penticton where she often shared dessert & 'Freda wit' with her neighbors on Pickering. For the last year the hamlets has been her home. She was a life time member of the OORP and for many years a member of OES, and a quiet supporter of many charities. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter Lorna, husband of 51 years, Bill, son Patric and 10 siblings. Freda will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her brother Loren, daughters Gail & Colleen, son's Willy and Jimmy, honorary daughters Maggie and Liana, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, too many nieces and nephews to count, and SO many more. Thank you to everyone at the Hamlets. You made it home for mom, ESPECIALLY her crew on apex. We are grateful for the care and the love given and for you acceptance of her playful spirit We honor and respect Freda's request for no service and that we gather in spring as the wild flowers bloom on her beloved Greyledge - to 'scatter and remember'.
