POPE, Dennis James: Of Kelowna passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Hospice House on October 17th, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Survived by his loving wife Beverly; two sons Harvey of Bancroft, Ontario, Steve (Pam) of Kelowna, BC, two daughters Christine of Barrie, Ontario and Rosalie of Haileybury, Ontario, daughter-in-law Theresa of Kelowna and the Timmins, Ontario Popes. Dennis is also survived by nine grandchildren Becky, Giselle, Cassidy, Jennifer, Megan, Erin, Marc, Raymond and Kelly. Predeceased by his son Dan in 2011. Dennis served two terms as counselor for Tisdale Township in Northern Ontario and served as alderman for the first councils of both Timmins, Ontario and Tumbler Ridge, BC. He was proud of his mining career at the McIntyre Mine in Schumacher, Ontario as well as Ireland, Tumbler Ridge and Vancouver. Dennis was very active with curling and Kinsmen clubs in Schumacher, Timmins and Vancouver. Most importantly Dennis was a devoted husband and father. He was a constant companion and caregiver to Bev and was never far from her side. Dennis was gregarious and adventurous and always enjoyed socializing at every opportunity. He was hardworking and insightful and achieved many successes in his life. Along with raising 5 children, Dennis and Bev travelled widely and in 2006 joined family in Kelowna, BC.
