FIPKE, Leonard Edgar "Ed": Ed was born on January 13, 1923 in Leduc (Rollyview), Alberta. He passed away peacefully on November 4, 2014 at the age of 91 at the Sunpointe Village Care Home. Ed leaves his beloved wife of 69 years, Anna. He is survived by his 3 sons: Charles, Wayne (Ava), Neil (Linda) and 1 daughter Carole Chawrun (Bill), also his sister Edna Tomlinson. Along with 13 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. Ed grew up on a dairy farm and then went on to attend the University of Saskatchewan. His first year was cut short after the sudden death of his Father in a farming accident, he then moved back home to help his Mother on the farm. He married Anna Tober in 1945 and spent most of his working life as an Aerial Farm Photographer. They moved to Kelowna in 1961 and then purchased a farm in Peachland in 1963, where they lived for 41 years. Ed retired in 1988. Ed was always an optimist and had a wonderful sense of humor. Ed enjoyed life in many ways, including playing the violin and accordion, he also loved to dance, travel, reading, and farming. As a couple they were known for their hospitality when they held annual "Corn Roasts" on their family farm. After retirement, one of Ed's greatest moments was when he and his wife, Anna, got baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses in 1989. "The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Dr. Mackle and the Sunpointe Residential Care Village staff for their excellent care of Ed." A memorial service will be held on November 15, 2014 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1039 KLO Rd. Kelowna, BC. Michael Taylor officiating.
