CHORLEY, Regina "Jean" Mary: passed away at Three Links Manor in Kelowna, BC, on November 10, 2014 at 93 years of age. A resident of Kelowna for 35 years, Jean, was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan of Russian German parents. Jean was one of 40 young women who, in 1939, under the Dominion-Provincial Youth Employment program lived at Lougheed House in Calgary and learned housekeeping and home nursing skills. Jean and her husband, Clifford, moved to Devon, Alberta after the Leduc #1 discovery in 1947. Jean loved to ride her bike around in the town of Devon, Alberta and was active with the Devon Alliance church. When Jean and Cliff retired in Kelowna, Jean reflected that the Kelowna air "felt soft and soothing just like the air in Hawaii." Predeceased by her husband, Clifford Peter Chorley in 1982, Jean is survived by her only daughter Brenda (husband Byron Thomsen) of Yucaipa, California, granddaughter Chloe Nelson (husband Brandon) of Beverly, MA, grandson David Boyle (wife Hilary) of New York City, NY, and grandson Peter Boyle of San Francisco, CA. A graveside memorial at Kelowna Memorial Cemetery is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18 at 11:30 am. Jean embraced Humility as a life principle, was environmentally conscious, and was grateful to the many nurses at Three Links Manor who assisted in her care.
