AHTILA, Richard Walter Eino: Richard Ahtila of Penticton, a very generous soul with a great sense of humour and a heart of gold, born December 18, 1953 passed away on November 27, 2014. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Val; children Ernie (Cheryl), Christopher (Tania), Robert (Krista) and his most cherished grandchildren, Austin, Clay, Deegan, Paul, Bennett and Joshua; sister Beverley (Robert), and brother Brian (Colleen); sister-in-law Anita (Bob); brothers-in-law Doug (Denise) and Dave (Irene) along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Valdemar (Walter) and Berdina Ahtila of Kelowna. He was born, raised and lived his early adult years in Kelowna, where he eventually met his wife Val. Rick and Val moved to Penticton where they lived and worked. In the last 18 years, he was self-employed assisting seniors with their everyday tasks. He was proudly involved in the AA Fellowship for the last 27 years, and with local model and stamp clubs. He was an avid hobbyist ie model building (where he enjoyed finding and giving that right model for certain people he knew), and hockey card and stamp collector. He was involved with the Army Cadets as a young teen so in his later years enjoyed volunteering his time at the Okanagan Military Museum. His most peaceful times were family holidays at the Kootenay Lake cabin near Creston, BC. Although he is gone, he will be forever in the hearts he touched. Donations in memory of Rick can be made to the Veterans Affairs. Condolences may be shared by visiting www.everdenrust.com
