Hammermeister, Walter: 1927 - 2015 Walter William Hammermeister of Calgary AB, born 22 April 1927, died 8 January 2015. Wally is survived by his loving wife Frances, his children Gail (Larry), Douglas (Donna), and Janice (Rick), and six grandchildren. He retired as Chief Electrical Inspector with the City of Edmonton and spent most of his retirement in Kelowna BC. He was a man of faith dedicated to serving his church. Wally was multi-talented and excelled at anything he put his mind to, whether cooking, sculpting, gardening or playing horseshoes. He played baseball all his life and was a member of the Canadian Senior Slowpitch champion team two years in a row. He was happiest fixing a toaster or making a fish skin wallet at the lake with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, but remembered always with a baseball cap on his head and a whistle on his lips. A service for the family will be held in Calgary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
