ARMIT, Olive Margery (nee Dipple): October 20, 1919 - January 12, 2015 Margery passed away peacefully on January 12, 2015 of natural causes. Born on the family farm at Stranraer, Saskatchewan to loving parents, Olive and Ernest Dipple, in 1919. She loved the prairies and always felt most at home in Saskatchewan and especially the Qu'Appelle Valley. Margery was raised on a ranch farm and rode her pony to school where she would later teach after completing her education degree from University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. Called to WWII, Margery was a Service Officer with the RCAF, recruiting pilots to serve overseas. During the war, Margery met Squadron Leader Conn Armit and they were married in Edmonton in 1944. Margery and Conn settled in Regina where Dr. Conn Armit built a successful medical practice and Margery had the challenge of raising five sons. Her countless work for charities and community was well respected. Following retirement in 1976, Conn and Margery moved to the Kelowna, BC area. Margery was a kind and loving person who always saw the best in everyone and every situation. She was a wonderful Nana to her grandchildren. Margery leaves four sons, John, Vernon; Jim, Vancouver; Bill (Debby), West Kelowna; Tucker, BC; daughters-in-law Carol Armit, Regina; Amelita Armit, Ottawa and two grandchildren; Eric, Regina and Irene (Danick), Toronto. Sadly predeceased by her husband, Conn and son Robert; brother John Dipple and sister Helen Dipple. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at Village at Smith Creek for their extraordinary care and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held on January 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. Interment to be at Indian Head Cemetery at a later date.
