JOHANSSON, Earl Otto: Born June 28, 1931 in Fort Frances, Ontario, passed away February 7th, 2015. He is survived by his sister Ann Johnson, his five children, Eric, Frances, Paul, James, Peter and his six grandchildren. Earl's wife, Joanne passed October 14, 2011. Even after fifty years of marriage, Earl endearingly referred to Joanne, as his bride. A devout Catholic, Earl formed many friendships in the clergy and the catholic communities in both Spokane and Kelowna and was widely known for his religious conviction and dedication to prayer. His home church was Immaculate Conception in Kelowna. Known as Earl "Ching" Johnson in his hockey days, he was a left winger, and during his expansive hockey career played in six different leagues in 13 different cities in 15 professional seasons as well as a member of the Stanley Cup Champion, Detroit Red Wings in 1953-54. Prayers will be said in his name at 7:00pm Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC. Funeral service will be 1:00pm Friday, February 13, 2015 at the same place.
