Our Scotty passed away surrounded by love on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
Scotty was a gifted athlete, excelling at every sport he tried. He was a Vernon Minor Hockey and Vernon Minor Baseball rep player beginning when he was 5, but his passion was golf. Scotty's golf career started at the Vernon Golf and Country Club when he was 15. From there he moved onto the Quail Ridge, Predator, Osoyoos, Spallumcheen and Sunset Ranch Golf resorts. He was a talented golf pro and patient instructor. His love of all sports and natural athleticism opened a lot of doors for Scotty and along the way he made so many good friends.
Scotty would do anything for anyone. His loving nature, sense of humour, laughter and generous spirit touched everyone he met. It was impossible not to love him.
Left to mourn Scotty is his wife Tawnya, his mother Vera Cameron, mother and father-in-law Mike and Marla Mackiewich, siblings Lee Anne Cameron, Kari Cameron (Rob Ferroux), Colleen Thorlakson (Ken), Jamie Cameron (Cindy), Ted Cameron (Alicia Connolly), nieces and nephews Stephanie Cowan, Fraser Cowan, Delanie Thorlakson, Mishra Cameron, Cadence Cameron, great nephew Jacob Schaffer, brother-in-law Don Cowan, sister-in-law Twyla Ciupka (Mark), and Scotty's good friend Tom Ross, who supported Scotty through the good times and bad. Scotty was predeceased by his dad Jim Cameron and nephew Raymond James Cameron.
A funeral mass was held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic church.
Scotty's family would like to thank the compassionate and caring nursing staff of 2 West, especially Allana, Sheryl, Charlene, Emily, Joanna, Kyla, Treena and Cynthia. There are no words to adequately express our heartfelt gratitude for your kindness. Special thanks to Dr. Brian Chai and Dr. Tim Gilhooly, who was Scotty's friend and doctor. Their efforts on Scotty's behalf will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Scotty's memory to the Greater Vernon KidSport Fund or Upper Room Mission.
