TILY, Ethelyn "Et" Irene (nee Felton): Feb.19, 1920- Feb. 5, 2015. Our family is very sad to announce that Et passed away on Thursday, February 5th at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in her 95th year, just two weeks shy of her birthday. She was predecessed by her husband Bill in 2011 and by her brothers Vic and Ralph Felton and her sister-in-law Dot Baulkham. Et is survived by her sister Dorothy (Dolly) Chapman of Okanagan Falls, sisters-in-law Ruth Lintott (Chilliwack) and Terry Felton (Penticton); her daughter Ruth Petrie (Mel), son Fred; grandchildren Lara, Mike (Steph), Dustin (Kaila); great grandchildren Matthew, Melissa, Sophia, Stella, and Logan Marie; and many nieces and nephews. Et was born in Vernon B.C. on February 19th, 1920 but lived most of her life in Penticton. She and Bill were married in 1940 and spent the next 67 years in the same house until they moved to Abbotsford in 2007 to live with their daughter Ruth. Their stay in Abbotsford allowed eight happy years of close contact with the local grandchildren and their families Her husband Bill worked for over 40 years with the CPR Kettle Valley Railroad and Et was very involved in the women's lodge associated with the company. Et was also very active in curling, bowling and hiking with the local naturalist club. Another active interest was the Okanagan Historical Society and she was well versed in the local history of the valley including many of the ghost towns of southern BC. Et, as the eldest sibling, was well prepared to be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and good friend. It would be difficult to find a kinder person than Et and she was dearly loved by her family. Her family will forever fondly remember her as the "world's greatest pie maker" The family wishes to thank the various branches of the medical community for the timely and excellent care she received over the last few years, including the staff in the Palliative Care ward of the hospital. There will be no funeral service. The family will gather in Penticton in the spring to honour Et. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in her memory are asked to do so to a charity of their choice.
