DEBOICE, EVAN DALE: EVAN PASSE...

DEBOICE, EVAN DALE: Evan passed away in the arms of his beloved wife Jane, on February 27, 2015, at the Kelowna Hospice. Both Evan and Jane were valiant in their efforts to battle the terrible disease of lung cancer. Survived by his loving wife Jane (Fisher) DeBoice of Kelowna, BC; son Shane (Sandy) Deboice of London, ON; stepson Alisdair (Donna) Fisher of Aberdeen, Scotland; grandchildren, Noah and Finley DeBoice and Logan and Kenzie Fisher; brother Rodney (Diane) DeBoice of Kamloops BC; brother in law John Gray of Glasgow Scotland; aunts Eileen North (97) of Kelowna, BC and Dot Langford (95) of Sarnia ON and supportive and loving cousins, too numerous to name. Predeceased by his father Max J DeBoice, mother Eileen DeBoice (Langford) and Stepmother Evelyn DeBoice (Bowman). Evan was born on September 9, 1939, in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan to his parents Max and Eileen DeBoice. They moved to Ontario during World War II, to find work. His mother passed away when he was only 9. Evan was raised in Ontario and worked underground in and around Sudbury. He was passionate about cars and worked in the auto body industry restoring and customising cars. He then worked for financial companies and became a Chartered Accountant with the Federal Government in Ottawa and London. His son Shane was born March 2, 1972. Evan moved to Okanagan Center in 1992 and retired as head of Personal Bankruptcy for Western Canada in 2002. He and Jane married on the Executive Board Room, in Kelowna, September 10, 2008. Evan was an avid golfer and member of Sunset Ranch Golf Club. For the past few years Evan and Jane golfed their winters away at their winter home in Casa Grande, Arizona where they made many good friends and memories. Evan loved to travel and toured Europe, Asia, the South Pacific, Canada and the U.S. He also loved animals with a special place in his heart for dogs and wild birds. He was a proud father and grandfather, a beloved husband and a treasured brother. He was an active supporter of World Vision and the Canadian Hunger Foundation for decades. May you have open fairways and the wind and sun at your back, Evan. Rest in peace until we meet again. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior - 399 Royal Avenue Kelowna, BC V1Y 5L3.
