BURTON, Amy Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Humphreys): It is with profound sadness that family and friends announce the death of Amy Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Humphreys) Burton on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Kelowna, British Columbia where she had been a resident at the David Lloyd Jones Home. Amy Elizabeth was born on 30 May 1920 in the district of Whitehead, Alexander, Manitoba to Thomas and Katherine Humphreys. Betty was very proud of her Welsh heritage, and never missed an opportunity to identify herself with these roots. She married Frank Haig Tywhitt Burton on 1 July 1940 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. As the wife of a career RCAF man, Betty told many stories about her experiences with the "unpredictable" living conditions during, and after WWII, as she and her husband were posted to various military bases in Canada. Haig's final transfer was to Beausejour, Manitoba in 1962 where Betty worked at the base post office. Haig retired from the service in 1968, and they moved to Kelowna, British Columbia. Amy Elizabeth is predeceased by her two sons, Richard Haig Burton (Margaret) (1978) and Lloyd Graydon Burton (Susan) (2005) as well as her husband (1992). She is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law Margaret; her two grandsons Richard Thomas (Michelle), and John Joseph Francis; her granddaughter, Anita Dale (Cronan), as well as a number of great-grandchildren. Betty's smile and jovial manner will also be greatly missed by her nephews, cousins, and friends. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. At the request of Betty, no service will take place. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com. Arrangements entrusted with First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna. 250-762-2299
