MONTEITH, JAMES DOUGLAS: Doug Monteith of Penticton, formerly of Armstrong and Kelowna passed away March 14th in Kelowna following a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife Joan in 2008. He is survived by his children Jim (Susan), Margot Forrest and Peter (Bonnie), and daughter by choice Nancy Co Fung. Grandchildren Ryan, Tim, Natalie and Thomas (Gemma) Monteith and Jeffery (Jessie) and Sean Forrest and great grandchildren Noah and Elodie Monteith and Kael and Ayla Forrest. Doug served in the RCAF in World War Two. At the end of the war he resumed his career with the Bank of Montreal in Kelowna but quickly left to join his father in two businesses, Kelowna Builders Supply and Kelowna Ready-Mix. Early on in Kelowna he said he was walking down Bernard Avenue and he saw "a beautiful redhead" and made a few inquires. He quickly met the love of his life, a union that would last 66 years until Joan's passing. Doug was very active in the Presbyterian Church acting as a congregational elder and serving many roles at the presbytery and synod levels. One of his favourite legacies was his involvement in the creation of the caribou presbytery house ministry. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 387 Martin Street Penticton, BC Saturday March 21st at 1:30 pm.
