MURFITT, Irene Elizabeth: 1924 - 2015 Rene passed away peacefully on April 9th at the Nanaimo Palliative Care Hospital. She leaves a loving husband after seventy years of a wonderful married life. She leaves four dear sons, Graham in Aylmer Que., Brian and Warren in Vancouver and Ian in Nanaimo. A fifth son, Allan, from Anchorage, predeceased her nine years ago. She was keenly interested in the Arts and had studied at the Alberta College and Banff School of Fine Arts. She was a talented Potter and Painter in acrylics and water-colour and had served as a volunteer in Art Galleries in Edmonton and Penticton. She was a wonderful Mother and Wife whom we will forever miss. She also enjoyed travelling with her husband while living in Indonesia to South East Asian countries. While living in Nigeria, she travelled to Italy, Greece, Egypt and Kenya. After retirement, she travelled to Mexico many times and to China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Alaska.
