STEWART, HELEN EDITH (nee RUSSELL) Helen passed away peacefully on August 22, 2013 with her daughters Katherine Stewart (Mike French), Patricia Plunkett (Steve) and Linda Turner (Simon) by her side in her final days. Born in Banff on July 23, 1928, Helen grew up in White Rock, raised a family in Port Moody, and spent many happy years of retirement in the Okanagan. She was predeceased by brothers Jim and Donald (Bonnie) Russell and survived by brothers Bill (Frances) and Bruce (Juanita), grandchildren Christopher, Lindsey, Rory, Stephen, Alex, Kylie, and Megan, great-granddaughters Kiya and Raeanne, and nieces and nephews. Well-loved for her humour and known to her close friends as "Fire", Helen was passionate about gardening, reading and especially her family and beloved dog, Jody. We would like to thank the wonderful staff of Haven Hill, Penticton for providing Mom with gracious and tender care. A special thank you to family and friends for their love and support. A private celebration of life is planned. "The death of a mother is the first sorrow wept without her." Condolences may be sent to the family through providencefuneralhomes.com
