Willms, Werner David "Vern": December 2, 1939 - April 20, 2015. With his family by his side, Vern passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus at Hospice House, Kelowna B.C. on the sunny morning of April 20th, 2015 at the age of 75. He leaves behind Martha, his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, his daughter Kim (Ward) Quering and granddaughter Shelby, his son Kevin (Linda), granddaughter Codie and grandsons Zach, Matt (Fehr), Evan (Fehr). Survived by his sister Lorina (Dyck), his brothers Bert (Chris), Hank (Marilyn), Dave (Donna), Dan (Lark) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased are Vern's siblings Vic, John, Frieda and Linda. Vern was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, the third oldest of ten children. His parents Aaron and Adina Willms settled in Kelowna when Vern was just 6 years old. He and his siblings worked the Willms land in Lower Mission for many years. After meeting Martha at Bible College in Abbotsford, they were married in Chilliwack in 1963 and settled back in Kelowna. With a servant's heart, Vern devoted his life fully to his wife, children and grandchildren and will be forever cherished. Vern was a hardworking and dedicated man who celebrated a 39-year career at Tolko Mill. Never quite ready to hang up his work boots, Vern worked four more years for his son-in-law at Century Lane Kitchens where he was admired for his sense of humour and tireless work ethic. Vern will be deeply missed as he made many lifelong friends in each Kelowna neighbourhood he lived in and through his faithful membership at Kelowna MB, Kelowna Alliance and Trinity Baptist churches over the years. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Ketch, Dr. Rolf, the amazing hospital staff on 4-A and the tender care provided by the nurses and volunteers at Hospice House. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Trinity Baptist on Springfield Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Okanagan Hospice House or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.everdenrust.com.
