PARRY, Al: March 3, 1959 - June 9, 2015. Gone Fishin'. If there ever was someone who truly lived their life with no regrets, and then left it with a huge smile of satisfaction, and a joke ready to tell, it was Al. Al lived large. He was the life of the party and his outrageous stories were so incredible, they just had to be true. Wherever Al was, laughter soon followed. Smart, witty, charming, and a free spirit with no fashion sense, Al left us way too soon after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Victoria, and raised in Cordova Bay, the ocean was Al's backyard and play- ground, and also where his love of fishing started. He spent many summers trolling with his Dad in the Gulf Islands, and would later drop his line in any river or lake he happened upon, saying 'if there's a fish in there, I'll catch it'. Al was always drawn to the water - swimming, skiing and fishing in the local lakes, travelling to many tropical destinations, moving to Arizona and building waterslides 'the best job in the world', and finally settling in Penticton with his boat just a short swim away. He loved his nieces and nephews and was very proud of them. A kid at heart, Uncle Al would show up at family gatherings and the kids would surround him like a tornado, anxious to hear Holiday Man's latest ridiculous story that would have them in peals of laughter. Al is predeceased by his Father, Ed and many close friends whom he always held close to his heart. He is survived by his Mother Eunice, Sisters and Brother, Gloria (Kirk), Ron (Joanie), and Sheryl (Jim), Nieces and Nephews, Nicole, Ken, Amanda, Niko, Connor, Ross and Katie. Al also leaves behind many close friends who will miss him dearly. True to form, and not wanting to see any of his friends unhappy, he didn't confide to them that he was so ill. Please remember the fun times, his generous character, his huge heart and his love of life, and know that you were very special to him. Thanks to the wonderful folks at Crossroads Hospice in Port Moody, who kindly put up with Al's antics these past 4 weeks. Save us a seat on the boat, Al!
