KANE, John William: Passed away peacefully at home in Kelowna, BC with his family at his side on June 12, 2015 at the age of 97. Survived by his daughters: Terry Kerr of Kelowna, BC, Kathy Dymond (Ray) of Okotoks, AB, Paulette Seitz (Carl) of Kelowna, BC, Jacquie Kane (Peter Dessens) of Kelowna, BC, and Joanne Schaeffer (Earl) of Vernon, BC, sons: Dan of Edmonton, AB, Jim (Carla Douglas) of Kingston, ON, Gerry (Jennifer Corkin) of Summerland, BC and Francis of Kelowna, BC, 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Laurel, daughter Shelley and son Patrick. John was born on September 22, 1917 in St. Louis SK. He was a WWII veteran serving overseas in the 3rd Armoured Regiment (Governor General's Horse Guard). Following the war John worked with Canadian National Railway where he enjoyed a 40 year career working throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Following retirement, John moved with his wife Laurel to Kelowna in 1989 where he enjoyed curling, golf and travel. His favourite times were spent surrounded by his family. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Bobyn and to Deanna Hammer (palliative care nurse). A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Dr., Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Center for the Southern Interior, Central Okanagan Hospice House or Palliative Care at Kelowna General Hospital.
