WATSON, Doreen Elizabeth: 90, of Kelowna, BC passed away peacefully June 15, 2015. Survived by her loving husband of 62 years Archie Watson and four children: Hugh Rhyasen (Carol Van Iderstine), Judy Watson (Robert Cramb), Wendy Watson (Walter Wright), and Cameron Watson (Stephanie Davidson); along with four grandchildren: Andrew, Meghan, Jessica, and Maxwell. Born March 8, 1925 in Calgary, Doreen grew up on a farm in Springbank with her twin sister (predeceased) Eileen Herringbone (Wallace) and brother (predeceased) Ron Wallace (Althea Wallace). She is the last direct surviving member of the Wallace family. Doreen and Archie met through the United Church and were married in Calgary in 1952. Prior to settling in Kelowna in 1989, Doreen and family lived in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Thunder Bay. A loving homemaker, Doreen cherished her family and many close friends. She welcomed all to her home and had a quiet and genuine manner that endeared her to all who knew her. Throughout her life she enjoyed both active and quiet pursuits, volunteering often and had a strong faith. Special thanks to Dr. Jan McIntosh as well as the staff at Sutherland Hills Rest Home and Village at Mill Creek for their diligent care of Doreen. The family also wishes to thank Teri LaBoucan for her devotion and kindness to Doreen over the last three years. Funeral service celebrating Doreen's life will be held on Monday June 29th at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna with Rev. Dr. Gordon Fletcher officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice. Interment to follow June 30th at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery with a family service.
