TOMECKO, Theodore George "Ted": Passed away on July 10, 2015, at the age of 84. He is survived by his loving wife Fran, two daughters, both of Ottawa: Jacqueline (Murray) Turnbull; Patty (Al) Ewing, grandsons, Ryan and Matthew Ewing; and a sister, Kathleen of Winnipeg. Predeceased by his parents, Steven and Ann; sisters, Geraldine and Georgina and brothers, Gerald and Wilbur. Ted was born in Lipton, Saskatchewan on December 28, 1930. He worked on the family farm for a number of years before embarking on a career in the RCMP. He was posted at Viking, Alberta; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Thunder Bay and Ottawa, Ontario. Following his retirement in 1988, Ted and Fran settled in Kelowna and were dedicated parishioners of St. Charles Garnier Catholic Church. Ted was proud of his time spent with the Knights of Columbus choir. He especially enjoyed bringing the joy of song to those in retirement homes. In earlier years dad took pleasure in visiting the family farm in Lipton during summer holidays and stopping to fish at the "Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions" island retreat on Lake of the Woods. Our family is forever grateful for the outstanding care dad received from the staff at Sutherland Hills Rest Home and to Dr. Joshua who looked after dad throughout his illness. Prayers will be held in the Chapel at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, on Wednesday, July 15th at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna on Thursday, July 16th at 10:30 a.m. with reception to follow. Memorial donations in memory of Ted may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
