KARP, Martine (nee Pigeon): Passed away peacefully on August 8, 2015. Predeceased by husband Steve and son Steve (Loria). Marty was born in Laverlocher, Quebec. She came from a large family and leaves behind sisters: Lucille, Simone, Huegette, Paulette and Jacqueline and brothers: Jacques, Gilbert and Gaeton. Son Joe (Fay), daughters Monique Hanright (Ian) and Christine Wind (Dave); grandchildren Ally Kothari (Avkash), Hanna and Colin and great-grandchildren Aasha and Aydan. In her early twenties Marty move to Noranda, Quebec where she managed a ladies apparel store, from there she and husband Steve moved to Winnipeg where they raised their children-teaching them independence and a love of travel. Martine spent her remaining years in Kelowna where she enjoyed playing bridge, days lake side with her friend Alice, and shopping at her "stores." She enjoyed cooking for her family and as hard as we have all tried we have not been able to duplicate her special spaghetti sauce. Marty travelled the world; France, England, Morocco, Portugal, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Barbados and maybe Antarctica (there were penguins). There was a special place in her heart for Malawi, Africa. Martine finished her whirlwind tour of life at Spring Valley Care Center, where she was card for lovingly by her "special army." Our family would like to thank Dr. Rachel Carver. Her caregivers deserve all our best. Safe travels Mom. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.mem.com and searching her name under stories. Arrangements entrusted to First Memorial funeral Services, Kelowna, BC 250-762-2299.
