WAGSTAFF, Arthur "Art": Passed away suddenly in a tragic plane crash in Iceland August 9, 2015 doing what he loved doing - flying. Grant was born in Barrie, Ontario August 3, 1959, but lived much of his life in Kelowna, BC. Grant began his flying career when he got his Private Pilot license in Ottawa when he was 16. He went on to get his Aircraft Engineer license and finally his Commercial Pilot License by the time he was 25. Grant saw the world during his career including much of Canada, the Maldives, Italy, India and Indonesia. He survived the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean in 2004 and was part of the rescue missions. Grant loved sports, his first love being baseball. He coached all 3 of his kids baseball teams hoping one day they would all play on the same team and was integral in the establishment of the mixed baseball for adults in Central Saanich. Grant was a great swimmer and scuba diver and spent several years in his youth as a lifeguard in Kelowna. Grant leaves behind his wife Roslyn Wagstaff of Victoria and their children Sarah Wagstaff of Vancouver, Tyler Wagstaff & Claire Wagstaff both of Victoria. His mother Elizabeth "Betty" Wagstaff of Kelowna, nieces and nephews & in-laws also in Kelowna. Grant is predeceased by his brother Stuart "Craig" Wagstaff of Kelowna and his father Alfred Stanley Wagstaff of Nanaimo. There will be an informal Celebration of Life August 23, 2015 at 1049 Verdier Ave, Brentwood Bay, BC from 1-6 and there will be a more formal Celebration of Life on September 4, 2015 at Guisachan House, 1060 Cameron Ave, Kelowna, BC at 11:30 am.
