Bayles, James Murray: August 7, 1921- August 16, 2015 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father James Murray Bayles, during his sleep on August 16. He managed to hang on long enough to celebrate a 70th wedding anniversary party only a week before with family and friends in Summerland. Survived by his soulmate and wife Dorothy, 'Dot' Bayles whom he met on a blind date in 1945 in Toronto after the war. Born in Calgary and growing up in southern Alberta he enjoyed a life tied with the CPR and the Rockies. Jim enlisted as a Private in 1939 with the 14th Calgary Armoured Regiment, later in the war he transferred to the Engineers and finished the war as a Captain. After the war he worked his entire career in the automotive industry most recently with Ford Motor Company as a heavy truck sales manager in Canada. Dad remained loyal to the Ford brand to the end and would always regale anyone willing to listen about the virtues of Ford products. Jim's passions in life were flying and model railways as well as his ever present companion Molly, a German shepherd/Coyote rescue dog. Besides Dorothy, his wife of 70 years, Jim is survived by his sister Monica of Calgary, and his children Gerald Bayles and his wife Penny of Tucson Arizona, June Reich of Vernon BC and Jim Bayles and his wife Monita of Vancouver, BC as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 21 at 11:00 am at St Stephen Anglican Church, 9311 Prairie Valley Road, Summerland, BC. Light refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to St Stephen Anglican Church, Summerland. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.providencefuneralhomes.com. 250-494-7752
