ADAM, Elsie Agnes: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Elsie Agnes Adam (nee Batt). A resident of the South Okanagan for the last 32 yrs. Elsie passed away peacefully, family at her side, Friday, August 7, 2015 at Trinity Care Centre. She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Reid Adam, her parents and her two brothers, Leslie and Richard Batt, and their spouses (England). Born May 4th, 1919 in Essex, England, Elsie worked as a General Accountant for BOAC in London. In 1943 she met and married her husband, Wally, a Canadian Overseas Soldier during World War II and later immigrated to Canada to join him in Lethbridge, Alberta, where they raised their three children. After her husband passed away, Elsie relocated to Penticton, BC in 1983 where she became a member of St. Saviour's Anglican Church and a member of the Canadian War Brides Assoc. She volunteered with the Legion, took up curling and golf, and was socially active in her community. Elsie loved life and adventure. She loved animals, had a great sense of humour, she was grateful for all her blessings. She always had a ready smile for those around her. In 2007 she moved to Twin Lakes to live with family, during which time she beat cancer twice and survived hip surgery. In 2014 she went into residential care, first at McKinney Place in Oliver and then at Trinity Care Centre in Penticton, until her passing. She is survived by her loving children, her son Terry Adam (Diana) of Nova Scotia, and her two daughters, Christine Hunter (Craig) and Linda Hamilton (Wayne) both of BC, two nieces, one nephew, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. Thank you to the paramedics, the PRH emergency and active care nurses and doctors, especially Dr. Tatham and Dr. DeKock for their care and acts of kindness and to Everden Rust Funeral Services for their gentle assistance during this difficult time. A special thank you to the staff at both McKinney Place and Trinity Care Centre for their devoted care of our mother during her stay with them and also for their kind words, support, and sensitivity during Mom's final days. In honour of her beautiful life, a Memorial Service with a Reception to follow, will be held Friday, August 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. Saviour's Anglican Church on the corner of Winnipeg Street and Orchard Avenue, Penticton, B.C.
