HAMBLETT, WILLIAM JOHN It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William John Hamblett born December 15, 1939 in Brantford, Ontario and died September 3, 2013 at Moog and Friends Hospice House, Penticton, BC. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Donna, son Darryl of Dawson Creek, BC, daughter Penny Hlus of Montrose, BC, and four beautiful granddaughters, Tylar, Rowan, Dakota and Pyper. Bill is also lovingly remembered by his mother Milly Hamblett of Summerland, his sister Shirley Rutter (Art) of Summerland, his brother Michael of Armstrong, BC, nephews and their families, as well as cousins, aunts and uncles in Ontario and many, many friends. Bill was predeceased by his father William in 1978. Bill lived in Brant County area of Ontario until moving to Montreal with Kahn Optical in 1964 for a brief time. He and his family then moved to Alberta to pursue his career as a licensed optician. Bill took a brief and challenging change in career to become a cowboy on the Douglas Lake Cattle Ranch near Merritt, BC for a short time. Bill decided however to go back to the optical business where he fulfilled both his profession as a licensed optician in Dawson Creek and farming on their quarter section in Rolla, BC before semi-retiring to Summerland and later Penticton. Bill continued to work as an optician with Waterfront Eyewear Centre, where he became part of their family, until his death. Bill has been a tireless volunteer and board member with the South Okanagan and Similkameen Chapter of the MS Society for some sixteen years. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Penticton Regional Hospital and Moog and Friends Hospice House for their compassionate care of Bill. There is no service by request. If friends so desire donations in Bill's memory can be made to the MS Society of Canada, SOK Chapter/Research, 3373 Skaha Lake Rd, Penticton, BC V2A 6G6, or a Memorial gift online where you can select both for research and the local South Okanagan Chapter at http:/mssociety.ca/en/give/default.htm Condolences may be sent to the family through providencefuneralhomes.com
