DROSSOS, NICHOLAS Passed away peacefully on November 13, 2013 in Vancouver BC at the age of 83. Known as a highly respected, kind and gentle man he will be missed and forever remembered by his loving family and friends, wife of 54 years Elaine, sons Christopher (Lyndsy), Daniel, daughter Alexandra (Nigel), brothers Sam and George, sister-in-law Crystal as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Nick was born January 28, 1930 in Penticton BC where he graduated from Penticton High School in 1948 and was selected as class valedictorian. He was very active in sports and as a member of the Penticton Lakers basketball team he was named tournament MVP at the BC Provincial Championships where his running hook shot was on full display. As an astute curve ball pitcher he took to the mound for the Penticton Canucks and Athletics in the early 50's and later went on to start for the UBC Thunderbirds. The game he enjoyed casually and competitively which he played into his later years was golf also known as his life long experiment. After graduating from UBC Law School in 1956 he articled in Vancouver and went on to establish his own practice in Penticton. In 1985 he was appointed to the bench and after 16 years of service retired in 2001 as a Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. He spent his later years in Vancouver choosing to be close to his family and his young grandchildren. His keen wit and unfaltering sense of humor coupled with his worldly knowledge made him the favorite of many. He was a great story teller as well as a great listener but his one shortcoming was handyman, erroneously attempting to fix things around the house with a pair of pliers and a hammer. Dad you definitely made the world a better place. A memorial service will be planned this spring in Penticton and will be announced at a later date. Donations to the Alzheimer Society www.alzheimerbc.org in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated. Send condolences at www.mbfunerals.com
