VAN ALLEN, JOHANNE (JOIE) ELIDA 1917 - 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Johanne Elida Van Allen on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the age of 96. She was born July 17, 1917 into a Norwegian Immigrant family. She was one of 8 children and was raised in Hagensbourg B.C. She married Gordon Johnson in 1940 and resided in Dawson Creek, Prince George, Powell River and Sechelt where Gordon pursued a teaching career. She was a devoted wife and a mother. After Gordon's death in 1969 she lived in Sechelt and Vancouver for several years before marrying Alexander Van Allen in 1978. They enjoyed 26 years together travelling and visiting with family and friends. She liked to say "I've set my foot on every continent." She has spent the last few years of her life in Langley and Penticton near relatives. Her face would always light up when the great grand children came to visit. Johanne is predeceased by her husband Gordon (1969), husband Alex (2005), daughter Susan Darrell (2005). She is survived by her son Peter Johnson (Doreen), son in law John Darrell, stepdaughters Roberta Franceur (Gascon), Ginney Van Allen (Rafe), Nancy Van Allen (Mike), her grandchildren Jodi Hansen (Jeff), Lauren Malks (Avrom), Toni Bowra (Jeff), Johnny Darrell (Kamala), Christina Zmijak (Henry), Marc Francoeur (Mickie) and her 11 great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver on Thursday, December 5th at 2:00 o'clock.
