WELDER, Ruth Alice (nee Redlich) Went to be with the Lord with family by her side on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the age of 80. Survived by her loving family, four sons: Bill (Gert), Doug (Anne), Mickey (Jamie), John (Debbie); Laurelee Nelson all of Kelowna; eleven grandchildren: Dave (Shannon), Rhonda (Tom), Denise (Amr), Jen (Andy), Mel (Paul), Ashley (Jarrett), Tom (Kristy), Brad (Roz), Jessica (Dillon), Evan (Brittany), Danielle (Justin); eleven great grandchildren, soon to be thirteen, whom she loved dearly. Special niece Nicole (Gary) Eastman, brothers: Albert, George (Glenna), Hank (Linda), Bill (Jan); sisters: Ellie (Abe) Giesbrecht, Agnes (Hugo) Stuerle, Edie (Glenn) Hagen; brothers-in-law: Francis Blackman, Ed (Diane) Poirier; sisters-in law Lillian Redlich, Ellen (Jim) Woodward and numerous nieces and nephews. Sadly predeceased by her parents: Herman and Susanna Redlich; husband Vic; brother Jerry Redlich, brothers-in-law Fred Heffke, Len Welder; sister Lily Blackman and sisters-in-law Tina Redlich, Rose Poirier; niece Lorie Poirier. Ruth was born in Forestburg, AB in 1933 and came to Kelowna in 1936 with her family, settling in the Black Mountain area. She married Vic Welder in 1951 and they raised their family in Kelowna. In 1979 they developed Mission Creek Golf Course. Ruth will be remembered for her love of nature, travelling, figure skating and her painting. Her family was dear to her and she loved spending time with her great grandchildren, "the little people" who had a very special place in her heart. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at Trinity Baptist Church, 1905 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC with Rev. Dr. Gordon Fletcher officiating. Reception to follow at Mission Creek Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Okanagan Hospice Association - Hospice House, 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2Z6.
