CROSS, Norman Edward Sr. (Norm) March 7, 1938 - December 13, 2013 Surrounded by his loving family and close friends, Norm passed away with incredible courage and dignity on December 13, 2013 after an eight year battle with IPF (Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis). Last year Norm had selflessly volunteered to be a part of a medical trial to help gain more knowledge of this terminal illness for future patients. We would like to thank Dr. Douglas Rolf and Dr. Mark Clarke for their care, kindness and friendship. Norm loved his family and was very proud of each one of his children and grandchildren. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Colleen and their four children; Norman Jr (Berva), Wendy Cook (Shaun), Linda Berger (Joe) and Jodi Merckx (Axel) and 10 grandchildren; Courtney, Kelsey, Cody, Dylan, Ryan, Sydney, Tyson, Taylor (predeceased), Axana and Athina; his brother Glen and sister Sandra, and many nephews and niece. He is now in good company with his parents Grace and Russell Cross. Norm met the love of his life and started dating in 1958 and married a year later. One of his passions was racing his 1970 Buick Skylark at the Barrie Speedway. They started their family of four children in Barrie, Ontario until they packed up in 1974 and headed across the country, falling in love with the west and making their home in Kelowna. Norm continued to follow his passion for cars by founding Springfield Auto Body in 1976-1990. They started their retirement travelling the world while still enjoying the Okanagan lifestyle. Norm was known for his drive and great sense of humor. He will be thought of and missed by all those who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Hotel Eldorado on Lakeshore Drive.
