ZAFFINO, Nicola (Nick) Passed away peacefully into the presence of Jesus, Friday, Jan 17th, 2014, at the age of 93 years. Remembered and sadly missed by his loving children; Jim Zaffino and wife Ingrid, Bruno Zaffino and wife Cindy, Rita Zaffino, Stella Zaffino; beloved grandchildren Nick Zaffino, Erik Hoglund, Kristina Zaffino who cherished their "Pappa"; his dear sisters in law, brother in law; and by many dear "neputi" (nieces and nephews), both here and in Italy, who loved their "Uncle Nick". Sadly pre-deceased by his beloved wife Angelina only 4 months ago, and by his brothers Francesco, and Guisseppe-Raphaele. Nick Zaffino was a kind, warm, generous, and gentle man who treasured his wife and family dearly. His happy and positive outlook showed in his beautiful smile, that lit up a room. Nick was a fantastic story teller, who transported his listeners with great tales of his childhood and life adventures, in Italy and in Canada; always engaging and witty! He valued his work and the friends he made there; he worked on the Kettle Valley Railway, and later for the City of Penticton for many years. He was an amazing gardener, and took pride in creating and growing the beautiful greenery, fruit trees, flowers, and grape vines that adorned his home. Nick had an abundant love for life. He lived everyday with true enthusiasm and found joy in simple pleasures. He was an inspiration and will be sorely missed. Nick was called home to join his beloved Angelina in their eternal paradise. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Jan 23, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 1296 Main St, Penticton BC, with Father Rex Velmonte officiating.
