SIMPSON, Evelyn Maud The family of Evelyn Simpson is deeply saddened to announce her unexpected passing on February 18, 2014 in Guelph, Ontario. She slipped away as she lived, quietly and gently. Mourning her loss is daughter Lorraine (Chris) and son Wayne (Debra), and four grandchildren, Scott, Todd and Andrea Willson, and Alana Simpson, as well as nieces and nephews across Canada. Evelyn was born on June 30, 1921 in Winnipeg, and moved to Montreal in 1960. Shortly after, she became a school secretary in the West Island School Board, a job she loved and excelled at until her retirement in 1977. In 1978, life took another turn, this time to the west when Evelyn and her late husband William (Bill) James Simpson retired to Kelowna. There, they continued to live life to the fullest, travelling, entertaining and spending time together with family and friends until Bill's death in February 2005. Evelyn was a kind and caring soul, and her family will miss her thoughtful wisdom, selfless support, and generous spirit. At this time of grief, we take solace in remembering the many wonderful years we spent together as she continues on her next journey to join Bill. According to her wishes, Evelyn will be cremated and there will be no funeral. Instead, in the coming weeks the family will hold a celebration of life and the positive impact she had on the people who knew and loved her. If friends wish, donations can be made in her memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society. Messages of condolence can be sent to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051 or www.wallcustance.com
