EDNA MARY LOMAS (Kerr): 1928 2014 On Friday morning, March 21st, Edna passed away peacefully at the Hamlets Nursing Home in Penticton B.C. Edna was born in Prince Rupert, raised in Wisteria and lived most of her life in Victoria. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Robert Lomas, who died in 2001. Edna is survived by Kenneth Lomas and wife Sharie of Kamloops, George Lomas and wife Carol of Terrace, Donna Lomas and husband Tom Beardsley of Penticton, and Gary Lomas of Terrace. Edna is also survived by four grandchildren: Alia Lomas and husband Mike March of Victoria, Bob Lomas and wife Crystal of Victoria, Jeffrey Lomas and fiancée Shelby Ditloff of Kamloops and Brian Lomas of Terrace. Edna spent much of her adult life working as a homemaker. At the age of 50, she returned to Camosun College to upgrade her skills and started a new career with the Research Branch of the Ministry of Forests in Victoria. She was one of the first stenographers to be trained on an early model desk top computer. She loved her job, her garden, her dogs and most of all, her family. She spent endless hours at the baseball park cheering on her sons or in the gym watching her children play basketball. In retirement, her delight was the opportunity to be close to her grandchildren as three of them moved to Victoria to attend university. Edna enjoyed travelling and was able to take trips to Hawaii, Mexico, and the United States. Edna will be dearly missed by her family and close friends. Everden Rust Funeral Home is entrusted with the cremation in Penticton. A Memorial Service will be held in Victoria at a later date in 2014 at McCall Brothers Funeral Home. Edna will be interred beside her husband, Robert, at the Royal Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetic Association would be greatly appreciated in memory of Edna.
