McKay, Bruce E. Oct. 17, 1929 - May 3, 2014 Bruce Eric McKay passed away peacefully in Kelowna on May 3, 2014. He was born on October 17, 1929 in Nelson and lived his early years in Ymir. As a graduate of UBC, Bruce joined Dominion Textile and moved east with his new bride Denyse. After many years in Montreal, Iroquois and Toronto, the family moved back to Vancouver in 1978 where Bruce continued working for Alcan until his retirement, eventually settling in Kelowna to enjoy the golf and skiing. He is survived by Denyse, his loving wife of sixty years, his children Glenn (Laureen), Carol (Phil), and Brian (Angela), his three grandchildren John, Michael and Lauren, step-grandchildren Tanya and Josh, and step-great grandchildren Solena, Saesha and Goldie. Also his two wonderful sisters Gloria Eagle of Kelowna and Dawn Iddon of Regina and their families. The family wishes to thank Monte and Nancy, John and Terry, Sy and Tonia, and Rob and Cheryl for being the greatest neighbours and friends. Thanks especially to Dr. Grant Chamberlain who treated Bruce with dignity and compassion. To Interior Health, the family thanks all the individuals who were caring and knowledgeable in helping him through his last few weeks. Bruce was a true gentleman, loved and respected by many and will be remembered for his kindness of spirit and generosity.
