SEDOR, CECILE After a long battle with a debilitating disease, her beautiful soul has finally been set free. Cecile Sedor was born Cecile Siszka on March 25, 1926 in Pine River, Manitoba. She passed away on July 23, 2013 at the age of 87 at Kelowna General Hospital, her loving daughter Sharon by her bedside. Cecile was predeceased by her son Harold John Sedor in 1983 and her husband John Sedor in 1993. Also predeceasing her were her brothers Mike, Bill and Peter and sisters Celina (infant), Anne, Pauline, Caroline, Lillian, Olga, Helen and Jessie, as well as sisters-in-law Anna, Eva, Jessie, Emily and brothers-in-law Steve, Adam, Paul and Ken. They were each part of big Ukrainian Prairie farm families who spread their love, laughter - and progeny - around the world. Cecile is survived by her daughter Sharon Harris of West Kelowna, her granddaughter Brandice (Leonardo) Luzi of Florence, Italy; grandson Kevin (Jennifer) Kooistra of Agassiz, BC; sister Shirley Wilks of Dauphin, MB, nephew Ed Olynick (Darlene) and family of Coquitlam, BC and a multitude of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, cousin, auntie, great auntie, Cecile loved many people in her lifetime and was very much loved in return. She was never happier than in her home or garden or hosting a big supper she had spent all day preparing for her family, friends and relatives. She was an outstanding cook and baker who especially enjoyed bringing the bounty of her garden or her husband's fishing and hunting expeditions into her kitchen where she then worked the culinary magic that all enjoyed. As a young woman, Cecile loved to dance, often outlasting her husband on the dance floor. She always exuded boundless energy and although a massive stroke slowed her down somewhat in 2006, for decades, she walked several times a day to locations that caught her interest or that of her friends. When she couldn't walk, she pedaled! Although she worked outside of her home at various times in her life, Cecile's world was her family and friends. She was a devoted and faithful wife; a kind, caring, generous and much loved mother and grandmother and a loyal and valued daughter, sister and friend. She doted on her pets, and they, too, lavished attention back on her. A private family funeral service will be held for Cecile Sedor on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at First Memorial Funeral Services. In the near future, she will be laid to rest in Saskatoon, SK beside her husband John and son Harold. They have waited a long time for you, dear mother, and I know you are now forever safe in their arms, surrounded by the many friends and family who have gone before you. I also know there is one big welcoming celebration going on for you. You taught me the most important lessons in my life, mom, and I am forever your proud and loving daughter. Until we meet again. Arrangements entrusted with First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna, 250-762-2299.
