SKELTON, Peggy Passed away peacefully on April 30, 2014 in Victoria, BC after a brief bout with cancer. Born Margaret Ann Gardiner Jaffray in 1937 to Andrew and Margaret Jaffray, Peggy grew up in the well-loved Jaffray's Bakery on Dunbar Street in Vancouver and attended Lord Byng Secondary. After teaching in North Vancouver, Peggy married Donald Skelton, with whom she lovingly raised their four children, Ian, Craig, Sandra (Stinson) and Keith. They lived in Okanagan Center, Pender Harbour, Sechelt and finally in Westbank on Okanagan Lake that remained dear to her heart and provided many of her happiest times with her children and grandchildren. Peggy had a life-long passion for singing. As a teenager, she joined the Elgar Choir, traveling as far as England to sing in Queen Elizabeth's garden. Throughout her life, she sang in many choirs, performed in musicals, and recently went to Prague with the Newcombe Singers Choir. Peggy taught in elementary schools around the Westbank area for many years and will be fondly remembered by her many students. Peggy was a great Mom, a caring friend, and a devoted grandmother to Andrew Craig, Andrew Douglas, Gwendolyn, Caitlyn and Sean. The family would like to thank the staff at the Jubilee Hospital third floor north and Hospice for their incredible help during Mom's final journey. At Mom's request, there will be a small family service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Hospice Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
