CIOLFI, Joseph March 12, 1928 - May 22, 2014 Passed away in his 87th year with his family by his side. Born in Civitanova del Sannio, the Molise region in Italy, he emigrated to Canada at the age of 21. Joe's career with CP Rail started as a young labourer, working his way up to Machinist Foreman, and then as Supervisor. He retired at the young age of 58. He was a volunteer with the Knights of Columbus, & always made himself available to help others with projects. Joe spent 57 years working in his Italian garden on Charles Street in East Van growing veggies for his family & neighbours. He was a self-taught electrician, mechanic, builder, welder, machinist, prosciutto & wine maker! We're going to miss his smile. Guiseppe is survived by his wife Vera, sisters Maria DiTomaso (Vincenzo) & Anna Padula (Joseph), brother Emilio Ciolfi (Maria); son Reno Ciolfi (Tina Johnson), daughters Sandra Ciolfi (Bo Skapski) & Anne James (Mark James); grandchildren Christina, Matthew, Monica, & Julia; & many cousins, nieces, nephews & paesani. A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Sat., June 7 at Noon, Hazelmere Golf & Country Club, 18150 - 8th Ave., Surrey. The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Royal Arch Masonic Home, & Dr. Kenneth Appleby.
