Roy arrived in Penticton in 1951 to startup in the family business - the Shielings Motel and continued with his brother Jack as a carpenter/ contractor retiring in 1984. He was a curler, bowler and avid golfer as a longtime member of PGCC and proud recipient of the 2001 Charlie Pratt Award. Roy is survived by his wife Pat of almost 49 years of marriage and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy passed away peacefully amongst family July 15th. BUSH, MARY ANN of Keremeos died on July 11, 2013 at the age of 95. She was born in Rhein, Saskatchewan on March 5th, 1918. She was married to the late John Bush for 68 years. They lived in North Vancouver and in 1973 relocated in Keremeos. Mary was active in the community in North Vancouver in the 50's and 60's, played softball, volunteered as Librarian and was on the executive of the North Shore Bowling League. When Mary moved to Keremeos she served as treasurer for the local bowling league. She was an avid bowler and continued bowling 5 pin in Keremeos and 10 pins in Penticton until she was 94. Mary had endless energy, lived a full life and made a lot friends along the way. She is survived by her two sons Ken and Steve Bush, brother Dan Kerluke, grandchildren Anneliesa and David Bush and 4 great grandchildren. There will be a celebration of her life on Aug. 24, 2013 commencing at 1pm at her home in Keremeos.

DA SILVA, Irene Passed away peacefully at Sutherland Hills Rest Home on July 20, 2013 at the age of 90. Irene was born in Monchique, Portugal. She immigrated to Canada with her husband, Jeronimo and daughter, Maria Teresa in April of 1958. They settled in Oliver and in 1959, their son Nelson Da Silva was born. Irene along with Jeronimo ran their orchard until 1986. After the passing of Jeronimo in 1988, she resided in Kelowna until her passing. She is survived by daughter, Maria Teresa (Gerry); son, Nelson Da Silva (Shirley); grandchildren, Jaimie Leverrier (Michelle), Chris Leverrier (Lindsey), Brayden and Jackson Da Silva; great grandchildren, Megan and Gavin Leverrier. Dennis enjoyed a love for his family along with outdoor activities and sports. His life and work allowed him to be involved with many projects to which he and his beloved wife Connie could work alongside each other throughout the day and night. Dennis is survived by his wife and soulmate Connie along with their three children Tracy Resch, Tyler (Marianna) Resch, Leala (Kelly Maxwell) Boswall, and grandson Quinten Maxwell. He is also survived by his brothers Lloyd (Jackie) Resch, Larry (Helen) Resch, Ken (Janice Rinas) Resch, Bill (Jean) Resch along with sisters Carolyn Opalinski, Violet (Bill) Baugh, and Geri (Archie) Archand. MINUK, BENJAMIN LOUIS: Born in Kamsack, Sk April 29, 1949; died on July 23, 2013 in Penticton from complications of myelofibrosis. Ben was the son of Moe and Anne Minuk. After attending school in Kamsack, Ben continued his education at university in Saskatoon. He worked for Manitoba Hydro in northern Manitoba before moving to BC where he met the love of his life, Laurie Toftager. They married in December 1975 and lived in Vancouver where Ben developed his career in commercial real estate with Colliers and later with BC Buildings Corporation. He was well respected in all his business dealings because of his integrity and creativity. Ben enjoyed mentoring others and earned the nickname of Obi Wan. In 2002, Ben and Laurie moved to Penticton where Ben established his own business, Bridgemaker Consulting Ltd. In Penticton he eagerly became involved in all the Valleyview neighbourhood social events and enjoyed hosting an annual Christmas party. He was a hockey player, a golfer, a sailor, a traveler, a storyteller, and a proud member of the Skiers from Hell. He was a member of The Penticton Community Projects Society, the Okanagan College Community Advisory Board and the Penticton City Business Development Advisory Committee. His laugh was infectious and his straightforwardness refreshing. He is deeply loved by his wife Laurie, brother Don (Linda), sister Janet Wees (David), niece Jennifer, brother-in-law Terry Toftager (Marj), nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and will be profoundly missed. We will remember him for his compassion, sense of humour, wisdom and his love of life. Ben was a true mensch; a man of honour. COATES, Marjory Clara (nee Nordick) Passed away July 23, 2013 at the age of 73 in Kelowna, BC after a prolonged illness. Marjory is lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of 52 years, Wayne; sons: Randy (Pam), Bryan (Chris); grandsons: Zachary and Jordan as well as many other family and friends. Marjory came from a family of nine brothers and sisters. She was born and raised in Watson, Saskatchewan; met and married Wayne in 1961. They lived in Calgary, Lethbridge and moved to Kelowna in 1979. Marjory worked at the Royal Bank for many years, until her retirement in 1995. With their retirement, Marjory and Wayne enjoyed their snowbird status and spent many happy winters with their friends in El Centro, California, where she could always be found either at the golf course, the ball park keeping score for the ball team or around the fire pit for a social happy hour.
