ROLHEISER, Marjorie "Marge" Matilda June 22, 1916 - May 23, 2014 It is with a spirit of thanksgiving for a life well lived that we, the family, sadly announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Marjorie Matilda Rolheiser at the age of 97. Marge was born in 1916 in Provost, Alberta, and was the last of five children and the only daughter of George and Matilda "Tillie" Wagner. As a young child her family moved to St. Walburg, Saskatchewan, where they purchased a farm. Marge would later marry a young lad, Con Rolheiser, having first met while taking their First Communion and Confirmation. They married in 1942 during WWII, at which time Con was serving proudly in the Canadian Armed Forces. Eventually Marge and Con relocated with their four young children to Edmonton, and soon added three more children to complete their family of seven. Marge is best remembered for her boundless energy that she applied to her roles as wife, mother, homemaker and friend. She was fully engaged in all that life had to offer and genuinely believed in living each day to its fullest. She found time to nurture her creative talents and to indulge her passion for hockey, especially watching her children's and grandchildren's games, or her beloved Oilers. Significant commitments in her life were her involvement in the Immaculate Heart Parish and over 70 years as a member of the Catholic Women's League. Marge loved travelling and savored many years after Con's retirement enjoying their homes in Kelowna and Phoenix. Our inheritance is a childhood rich with memories of love, support and home cooking, and a family forever forged by these experiences. Marge instilled in our family her own values of hard work, generosity, integrity and a strong sense of interdependence. She was happiest in the company of her family, enjoying laughter, good food, looking after everyone, and orchestrating the action. Marge appreciated every card, phone call, or visit from others. Whether it was with family or friends, or both, she was always eager to celebrate life's many joys. Marge was predeceased by her husband, Con, in 2004 after sharing 62 years of a blessed and fulfilling marriage. Memories of a loving mother will be cherished by six surviving children: Dianne (Craig) Green of Strathmore; Roy (Barb); Lynda (Jim) Phelan; Norm (Jan), all of Edmonton; Carol of Toronto; and, Terry (Tammy Tartaglio) of Vancouver. She was predeceased by a son, Doug, granddaughter Kirsten, and son-in-law, Craig Freeman, as well as her four older brothers: Wilfred, Elmer, Harold and Eddie Wagner. Marge's legacy also includes her 12 loving grandchildren and one great grandchild: Blake, and his mother Carol Martin; Kyle Green (Raemy Jung) and great-grandson Ray; Kevin (Shelli) Green; Kelsey (Ryan Ruffell); Taylor (Ken Donnelly); Reese (Kristine Sochatsky); Lyndsay Phelan (Dave Venance); Kellen (Sonia Ho); Cailey (Kevin Martiniuk); Kristen and Colten. Her wide circle of treasured family and friends will also dearly miss Marge. Prayers will be held at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton, on Wednesday, June 11th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Father Mike McCaffery will celebrate a Funeral Mass at Assumption Catholic Church, 9040 -95 Avenue, Edmonton, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 12th, 2014.
