GETZLAF, ANTHONY JOHN (Tony) Born June 13, 1927 in Avonlea, Saskatchewan; passed away July 31, 2013 in Penticton. He is survived by his loving wife, Angela; son, Shelly Bernard; daughters, Nancy (James) Wigglesworth and Jo-Ann (James) McCulloch; grandchildren, Anthony Wigglesworth (Lori Meckleborg), Rene Chamberland, Andrew (Angela) Wigglesworth, Michael (Theresa) Wigglesworth, Tim (Kelsey) Duncan, Arianna Getzlaf and Anton Getzlaf; great grandchildren, Alexandra, Marcus, Benjamin, Malin, Artemis and Letitia; brother, Peter (Berta) Getzlaf and sister, Rose Flegel, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Tony lived in the Penticton area for 42 years and he was a WWII Vet with the Queen's Own Riflemen. Tony was very active with Auxillary RCMP, Knights of Columbus, Citizens on Patrol Society, as well as volunteering with the mental health association workshop. He loved to play and honourary coach slo-pitch baseball and never missed a game. As well he enjoyed watching his grandchildren's hockey games for which he'll be remembered for his advice, Stick on the ice. Woodworking was a real passion for which he had a natural gift as a self - taught carpenter that he shared by building houses and furniture and helping with many repairs over the years. A Memorial Mass will be held, Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 361 W. Wade Ave., Penticton. Prayers will be held on Friday August 2, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the church as well.
