GIBBON, John E. Nov. 18, 1921 - Aug. 29, 2014 John (Jack) Eugene Gibbon of Kelowna, BC, passed away peacefully August 29, 2014 at the Central Okanagan Hospice House in Kelowna. Born November 18, 1921 in Edmonton, AB, Jack and Irene arrived in Kelowna in 1976 from Saskatchewan. Predeceased by loving wife Irene (Rivett) in 2009, Eileen (sister), Ray (brother), and Paulette (sister); Jack is survived by daughter Pat McNinch, grandchildren Jaret (Irene) and Carey Swanson, great-grandchildren Ashleigh and Abby; son Terry (Jan), grandchildren Riley, Breanna, and Bryce (Ali); siblings Jean (Stan), Bob (Carol), Lorette, and Ron (Lynn). Jack retired to Kelowna from 40 years of policing with both the RCMP and Saskatoon City Police, and was a long-standing member of the Kelowna Golf and Country Club and the Rotary Club of Kelowna. Jack was an impassioned golfer, bridge player, and renowned storyteller with a seemingly endless memory for detail. The family interment will be held at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, September 15, 2014, followed by a Celebration of Life for all to attend at the Lexington Recreation Center, 650 Lexington Drive from 2:00 to 4:00.
