DIONNE, Evelyn: It is with great sadness that we, the family of Evelyn Doris Dionne, announce her passing. She was called home to join her heavenly Father on September 18, 2014. She leaves to mourn her son Bert (Marg) of Kelowna, BC, daughters Rose Wickenheiser (Pat), of Chilliwack, BC, son Jerry (Viv) of Penticton, BC, daughter Betty Van Roon (John) of Lorette, Manitoba, daughter Donna Meads (Ed) of Onoway, Alberta and daughter Kathy Storle (Orin) of Weyburn, Sask. as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister Shirley Cameron of Clearbrook, BC and two brothers, Don Wells of St. Albert, Alberta and Dick Wells of Red Deer, Alberta along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and friend, Honore Dionne in 1988, two brothers Howard and Clarence and two sisters Mildred Verot and Ruby Baskin. The loss of a son-in-law Van Wickenheiser in 1988 and daughter-in-law Eva (Jo) Dionne in 2006 left a great void in Mom's life. Mom was born in Redstone, Montana on September 25, 1916 to Clarence and Inga Wells. When she was four years old her family settled in Radville, Sask. where she would live until her retirement. At the age of 19 she married Honore Dionne and together they raised six children. Mom was an active member of her community and church serving as president of the CWL for many years. Once all her children were in school she worked in the local hospital until her retirement. In 1981 Mom and Dad moved to Penticton, BC. Mom loved to entertain family and friends and she was able to do both in this beautiful part of the country. Her and Dad joined a dance club where they both pursued one of their passions. Travelling back to the prairies every September was a real treat for mom as she would be able to reconnect with family and friends that she didn't see as much of. Our Mother was a gentle and caring soul who lived her life with dignity and grace. She was dedicated to her family and we have been so blessed to have had her in our life. We will forever have an angel on our shoulder. We would like to thank the staff at Sutherland Hills Rest Home in Kelowna for the respectful care they gave our mother in the last few months of her life. She referred to them as her family and we her family will be forever grateful. Rest in peace mom. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 10:30am at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 1296 Main St., Penticton, BC.
