POLLOCK, Burton Melvin: Burt Pollock passed away in West Kelowna on Sept. 29, aged 84. Burt was born in Wadena, Sask., in November 1929, youngest of eight siblings. With his parents Mary Jane (Mayme) and Samuel Melvin Pollock, he moved to West Summerland in 1946 where Burt worked as an auto mechanic for his brother Frank. He married Bernice Burnett Elliott of Summerland in 1951. The couple moved to New Westminster in 1954 where Burt worked over 30 years as a mechanic, shop foreman and service manager for Jack Marshall Motors and its successor companies. They moved to Port Coquitlam in 1960 and to Harrison Hot Springs in 1987 where they jointly managed Harrison Holiday Park, a recreational vehicle co-operative. In retirement Burt and Bernice lived at Antlers Beach near Peachland. Bernice died in 1996. In 2014 Burt moved to the Dorchester Retirement Residence in Kelowna and briefly, Brookhaven Care Centre in West Kelowna. Burt is remembered by son Kim Pollock and daughter-in-law Cheryl Hewitt, granddaughter Marion Hewitt Pollock and grandson Steven Pollock. Many thanks to the workers and staff of the Dorchester, Kelowna General Hospital and Brookhaven as well as to Amberlee Ficociello, Bob Unrau, Audrey Knapp, John Edwards and Burt's neighbours at Antlers Beach. There will be a private family memorial.
